EXPERIENCE

Canny Remote, USA

Growth Engineer Jan.2019 - Present

  • First engineering hire at a bootstrapped customer feedback startup that has grown from $300k to $3M ARR during my employment.
  • Developed an unconventional hiring pipeline that allowed our small team to evaluate the technical skills of thousands of candidates in minutes rather than hours and grow from 1 to 8 highly-productive engineers.
  • Built the product's analytics platform that allows customers to aggregate millions of feedback and customer data points in fractions of a second. MongoDB, NodeJS, React
  • Automated the manual process of qualifying sales leads with 90% accuracy using a linear regression data model. Python, scikit-learn
  • Spearheaded the development of program that allowed our $50 customers to try our $200 plan which converted 75% of participants.

Tesla Palo Alto, California

Senior Software Engineer Oct.2017 - Dec.2018

  • Led introduction and adoption of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) in the service engineering organization.
  • Managed the release of a new UI affecting thousands of daily active users, reaching 80% user acceptance within 1 week of rollout.
  • Rearchitected monolithic API to a Domain Driven Design that could be configured at deployment time. This allowed us to ship a paired down instance of our application to external bodyshops increasing service capacity 400+%.
  • Led initiative to prioritize the team's workload, resulting in improved estimate accuracy, team effectiveness, responsiveness and executive approval to double team headcount.

Software Engineer Oct.2015 - Oct.2017

  • Owned diagnostic integration during Model 3 manufacturing ramp; responsible for identifying issues, diagnosing root causes, and delegating work across teams.
  • Designed a wireless on-board diagnostic system enabling testing earlier in the manufacturing process, streamlining production, decreasing repair costs and increasing yield. UDS, Python3, Unix Sockets, Golang, Rabbitmq
  • Developed a visual editor that enabled 100+ engineers to define more than 500+ custom logic flows to automate service diagnostics and manufacturing line operations. Webpack, React, Redux, Websockets, Python3
  • Implemented a multi-level escalation system to offload 90% (10x decrease) of service diagnostic cases handled by the service engineering team.
  • Introduced React, Redux, Webpack, Linting, TDD, CI/CD, static analysis, and functional/asynchronous programming practices to development.

Securifi Taipei, Taiwan - Hyderabad, India

Software Intern Jan.2014 - Aug.2014

  • Built an e-commerce website that allowed our 7,000+ Kickstarter backers update their shipping info and aggregated data to streamline manufacturing and processing of 8,000+ deliveries to over 70 countries .

Solar Decathlon China Beijing, China

Software + UX Engineer Aug.2011 - Aug.2013

  • Led a team of 6 students for UIUC and 5 students from our partner school, Peking University, in developing a home automation system for the UIUC/PKU entry into China's first Solar Decathlon. Backone, Websockets, Python
  • Traveled to China in the summer of 2013 to oversee the final stages of construction and installation. Provided tours in Mandarin in the competition city of Datong.
